Seventy-fouryears ofbuilding trust

The story of Tarlok Chand Company is the story of a city. It begins in 1952, as the first lines of Chandigarh were drawn — and continues today across the Tricity and beyond.

1952 · Founded with the city

The Foundation

In 1952 — the year the foundation of Chandigarh, India's first planned city, was laid — Shri Tarlok Chand established the company with a small team of masons, a handful of tools and an unshakeable belief in honest work.

Those early years were spent on the ground: brickwork, foundations and site works as the new capital's first sectors rose from open fields at the foot of the Shivaliks.

First Public Works

A reputation for quality and punctuality led to the firm's first public works — housing, boundary walls and site development for the growing capital.

This is where the company learned the discipline of government specifications, measurement books and inspections that still defines how we work.

A Union Territory

On 1 November 1966, Chandigarh became a Union Territory and entered a new chapter of growth. The company grew with it — taking on larger buildings, civic works and public infrastructure.

Roads & Infrastructure

As Chandigarh expanded into its second phase of sectors, the firm moved into roads, culverts, drainage and water-supply works — the arteries of a modern city.

Investment in road rollers, mixers and an in-house workshop gave the company the capacity to deliver larger contracts on schedule.

The Next Generation

The second generation joined the business, bringing engineering expertise and modern construction methods while keeping the founder's values at the core.

The portfolio broadened to schools, health centres and office buildings for government departments.

Beyond Chandigarh

Work extended across Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh — including bridges and structures in demanding terrain.

Formal quality-control procedures, material testing and safety practices were introduced across every site.

The Tricity Era

As Mohali and Panchkula grew alongside Chandigarh into a single Tricity, the company expanded into private development — group housing, commercial SCOs and industrial sheds — alongside its public works.

Going Digital

With government procurement moving online, the company embraced e-tendering, digital estimation and modern project-management tools — improving transparency and speed on every contract.

Resilience & Responsibility

Through the challenges of the pandemic years, essential works continued under strict health and safety protocols.

Sustainable practices — rainwater harvesting, fly-ash bricks, energy-efficient design and solar-ready roofs — became standard on our projects.
